#8 Todd Frazier: Fantasy Predictions for 2016
For the first half of last year, Todd Frazier made us look like a bunch of super geniuses. We predicted he would be one of the best third basemen last year and that, even though he wouldn’t continue to steal as many bases, he would have a huge, breakout season at the plate. Here’s Todd Frazier’s stats from last year, broken down by the first half vs. the second half:
As you can see, after winning the Home Run derby, Todd Frazier hit a huge slump that lasted, pretty much, the entire second half. It was so bad that, while Frazier carried fantasy teams on his back through the first half with 25 H5, 57 RBI and 54 Runs, he actually found his way to a lot of leagues’ waiver wires in crunch time with his second half stats.
In 2014, Frazier hit .290 in the first half and just .247 in the second half. In 2012 and 2013, his 2st v. 2nd half splits were a little more normalized and consistent, so we’re not worried that this is a trend, yet, although it may be. Since last season, Todd Frazier has been traded to the Chicago White Sox, so he may find himself as the DH here and there if he gets worn out like he may have been in the second halves of 2014 and 2015. Expect Todd Frazier to still eclipse 30 HR, and he may hit the 100 RBI mark on what should be a little better lineup. Still don’t expect a batting average over .260, though. |
